So far in 2017….

It’s Spring here in Girton and we are enjoying a beautiful sunny day!

We’ve had a really busy year so far with lots of groups of teenagers coming to study here on our young learner group courses.

Here are a few pictures of our groups…

This is our beautiful group from Argentina, Brazil and Chile who stayed with us for 4 weeks in January.

They were happy, funny, hard-working students and we LOVED having them here!

We took the students to Princess Helena College, a typical English boarding school, where they joined the students in their lessons and got a chance to chat to the students at lunchtime.

It was a lovely day.

March 2017

Last week we had a group of students from Denmark.

They spoke English really well and were such enthusiastic students. They spoke English all the time – even out of class!! We studied lots of topics including British life and culture, inventions, graffiti and music. I enjoyed teaching them so much.

We also had a large group of Italian students from Naples. They were studying IGCSE Geography and had a very intensive week studying earthquakes and volcanoes. They worked so hard! Out of class the group were lively, fun and LOUD! But we had so much fun with them.

Here they are with their teachers.

more groups are here at the moment… I’ll update you soon……

A big hello from Bryony!

keep-calm-its-almost-summer-125I can’t believe it’s just 2 weeks until our Summer 2015 courses start!

imagesWe’ve had such a busy year with groups from all over the World: Chile; Brazil; Austria; Italy; Thailand and other students from every part of the globe. In fact at CAE we’ve had students from over 30 countries this year. It’s amazing!

And now, it’s nearly time to welcome new students for our 3 Summer courses. We’ve got lots of plans – trips to London, Cambridge and other famous cities, games, sports, art. drama and other fun free-time activities and, of course, interesting, interactive and inspiring English lessons. We know that students love coming here to make new friends and practise their English but the really special thing is that they make memories that they will have forever!things_end_but_memories_last_forever-46087

I can’t wait to meet everyone but I’ll miss our past students! All of the staff here have such good memories of students and groups we’ve had at CAE. We’ve been so lucky to have such special and wonderful teenagers here.

Wherever you are, have a fantastic Summer and we hope we see you back at CAE soon!

We’ve been printing lots of the photographs from this year and putting them in picture frames in the classrooms and we’re remembering all the fun we’ve had this year and all the new students we’ve met.

We’re looking forward to our next teenage course in January. We will be welcoming students from Brazil, Argentina and Chile and they will spend a month here learning English, visiting London, Cambridge and other famous places and maybe enjoying the snow!!

Most of you are probably studying hard at school and maybe doing exams. Are you still improving your English? I hope you’re practising a lot!!

Sometimes it’s difficult to keep practising English when you are at home but there are ways that might help you to improve. Here are a few suggestions:

Watch videos and listen to songs on YouTube. Look at the lyrics or subtitles and try to choose 5 new words from each song or video that you want to remember. Keep them in a journal or notebook and keep it next to your computer so that you can add to it every day.

  • Follow a blog or join a Facebook group about something you are interested in. For example, if you like horses read and blog about horses; if you like football read and blog about football; if you love chocolate read and blog about chocolate!! Remember, learning English shouldn’t just be about boring text books. Try to use English in interesting ways.

  • Keep in touch with the friends you made here. Have you sent them a message recently? You could write to them to say hello and catch up with all your news. Then you are practising your writing and also finding out about the people that you met here. If you want to connect to someone from a different country use our Facebook group to send a message and see if you can find a pen pal. There are people from 30 different countries in our group – you could make friends from all over the World.

It would be lovely to hear from you and find out what you are doing and how you are improving your English. You can message us on this blog or our Facebook page any time. We really love hearing from you.

Good luck with any exams you are doing and keep studying hard!

Best wishes

Bryony and the CAE team.
