Today, the students visited Grantchester Meadows. At tea rooms they tried the typically English ‘cream tea’ (scones, cream and jam). Afterwards we had a game of football. Then in the evening the students had to design and build an egg catapult to try and launch a hardboiled egg as far as they could. The students came up with creative designs. Have a look below!

1st week of Teenage Course!
“A great first week to the course. Mother Nature has given us a daily shower, and we learned that most students are terrible bowlers, and each student thinks their country will win the Euro 2016 tournament. We’re looking forward to a great second week where we’ll visit London, hit the cinema, and spend some time at the Live Action Laser Games: Laser Force. Can’t wait!”

Thursday: Team Building and Movie Night
Today, the students did some team building activities, for example ‘crossing a river’ with tyres and planks of wood. They had fun and the competition was fierce! Later, due to heavy rain- typical England, Sports Night was cancelled and instead the students had a Movie Night. The pick of the evening was Mocking Jay Part 1 with popcorn.
Wednesday: Swimming & CAE’s crazy game
This afternoon we went swimming in the local leisure centre where students played in the pool and used the water slides. This was enjoyed by all!
This evening the students were introduced to CAE’s very own Crazy Game! This is a board game combining many different popular party games including Pictionary, Charades and Trivia Questions. There were three teams and a close race to the end, involving highly enthused shouting and a debate about how many states are in America (50?! 51?! depends which foreign website you look at!!!)
The evening ended with a game in the garden as the sun set involving hiding in the school’s grounds and racing to a safe area without being caught by the ‘catchers’.
Tuesday: Orienteering & Bowling
After the morning’s lessons, students enjoyed an afternoon of orienteering in the village – they were split into two teams and raced to collect clues hidden across parks, pavements and lampposts. Everyone (including the social activities team) were too busy competing to take any photos. And after much competitiveness, prizes were split between both teams after a draw.
In the evening the group went ten pin bowling. It was a good opportunity for the students to mix with different nationalities and practice their English whilst bowling and playing in the arcade.
