Wednesday Arts/Cooking and Disco Night

Due to some unexpected rain we had to switch our afternoon activities. Instead of the awesome teambuilding games we had planed we did some cooking and arts! In the kitchen we made some amazing vanilla cupcakes and in the arts room the students designed some cool T-Shirts. In the evening the students went to the international disco night,in Cambridge city centre, where we rocked some glow sticks that light up the whole place.

Tuesday: Treasure Hunt and Bowling

This afternoon, students played a real life version of Cluedo. This involved a race to search the school and gardens for hidden clues to discover who the ‘murderer’ was. The three teams enjoyed a close race. They then had free time and played pool, board games and ping pong.

Later in the evening, we travelled to town to play a game of ten pin bowling. Even the students who had never played before surprised the staff (and themselves!) with how well they did. Nachos were eaten, strikes scored and a fun evening had by all – including the social activities team. 🙂

Monday: Cambridge & Welcome Barbeque

After a morning full of testing and lessons, the students enjoyed a brief tour of Cambridge and some free time to shop and explore the city.

In the evening, the students were joined by the adult students for a barbeque and games at the school. They played croquet, monopoly, twister, pool and a very crazy game of badminton involving 8 people and far too many shuttlecocks!

Friday: Punting and Farewell!!!

Today marked the students final day at CAE! To say goodbye the social activities staff organised a trip to the city centre to go punting! Students enjoyed a trip by boat along the cities beautiful river for an hour and most importantly of all managed to avoid falling in and all escaped dry!

In the evening students were able to say goodbye to each other in a chocolate themed party! Games were played, far too much chocolate eaten and an emotional farewell was given as students departed for the final time!

Thursday: Pizza Night!

This evening students were given a chance to relax with a pizza party! Students were able to enjoy the warm weather together by playing games such as badminton and giant connect 4! Later on in the evening staff prepared pizza for all the students to enjoy either outside or resting inside watching a film!

Wednesday: International Night!

Today students finished their plans for the international night which took place this evening! During the afternoon students were busy in the kitchen preparing dishes native to their countries such as pizza (Italy), crepes (France) and paella (Spain)! In the evening visitors from the students homestays and all over the village were able to come and see the work the students had put into their presentations and sample the delicious food!

Tuesday: Volleyball and Blind Date

This afternoon, some students finished off painting their t-shirts. They have created some beautiful works of art. Meanwhile, the other students had a fun and fast-paced game of volleyball in the sunshine.

During the evening, the staff and students recreated ‘Blind Date’, a British game show from the 1980s. The way we did this at CAE was by having one student, who could not see the others, ask questions to three other students (or the first student’s  potential dates)and then decide who they wanted to “go on a date with”. To make the game more interesting the three students who were answering the questions got dressed up in crazy fancy dress.

To end the night off, some of the students gathered round the piano to play and sing whilst the other students played some games.
